James A. Pelphrey Kids Room

Here at the James A. Pelphrey Kids Room is a place to bring your kids to learn and have fun. We have a large selection of easy to read books, plus a Caldecott section, and a non-fiction section for the kids. We have Dr. Seuss, Brown Bear Brown Bear, Curious George, and many, many more books.

There is two computers that are available in our kids room for children 3rd grade and under that the kids can use to play games on. Some of the games are Finding Nemo's Underwater World of Fun, Disney's Search for the the Secret Keys, Barbie's Nail Designer, M & M's The Lost Formulas, and many more. The games are educational and fun at the same time, something we think kids will enjoy.

We have a mural painted by Catherine Smart Wells located in our Kids Room. The mural was inspired by several different landmarks here in Johnson County. Some of the locations are Barn Rock in western part of Johnson County, Little Mud Lick Falls (Jenny Wiley Falls), and some sycamore trees located behind the library.

Also associated with Kids Room is our children's reading programs. We have two story hour sessions in a day that take place in spring and fall seasons and a lap sit program also. We also have a summer reading program here at the library. Check back with our calendar page for updates of when these programs will be.
