Policies
Library Card
Johnson County residents and surrounding counties are eligible for a free library card. Current
identification is required to receive a card. Please allow two to four business days to receive
your card in the mail.
Anyone under 18 must have their parent or guardians signature to receive a library card.
There is a $2.00 fee for adults and $1.00 for school children to replace lost library cards.
Game and Video Policy
You must be 18 years or older to check out movies or games and have a JCPL library card.
There is a limit of two videos and one game each rental.
Loan Period
Books, audio recordings, and Playaways may be checked out for two weeks and may be renewed up to
3 times for a total of 8 weeks ( as long as there is no reservations on them).
Videos are loaned for two days at a time. There are NO renewals on videos.
Books, audio recordings, and Playaways may be renewed in person or by phone.
Reserves may be placed on a book that is checked out at the time. Reserves may be requested by phone
or in person. When the item is returned we will call you and the requested book will be placed behind the counter
for you to pick up. Books must be picked up in a reasonable amount of time or it will be placed back
on the shelf.
Late Fees
There are NO late fees for overdue books, except for Interlibrary Loans.
Videos are $2.00 per video, per day.
Lost books or damaged books may be charged for the replacement cost of a new one.
Internet Policy
You must have a library card at JCPL.
You must sign our Internet policy agreement.
18 years or younger must have a parent or guarding signature.
Children under 10 may not use the computers unless supervised by parent/guarding or adult child care provider.
You are allowed 30 minute intervals & a total of one hour of Internet access a day (excluding
someone working on them for school work.)
